Day 3 Preparing for SLC

Hi to all. Had my first Indonesian coffee yeasterday. James, one of the expat teachers took us to a gorgeous little coffee shop where they roast and make all their own coffee. I was very impressed and it almost felt like home except for the fact that the humidity outside was about 80%. Ibu Kathryn, the Junior Head had me over for dinner along with a few other Global Jaya teachers. We had a lovely meal and chat. Most of the expatriate teachers have maids and drivers that cook, clean, iron and drive them around. The lifestyle is very different and I'm sure it doesn't take long to slip into the comfort of it. I came home from school yesterday and Nitta had washed and ironed all by clothes (including ironed knickers!)
Have just spent the morning with Year 6 watching them go through the routines of sharing their portfolio with their parents and the formalities of introducing their parents to their teacher. took a small group into the quiet area and used TTYPA..., the thinkers keys and a PMI with them to get their personal opinion of Student Led Conferences. Most of the children agreed that they enjoyed showing their parents the work they'd done and that they felt proud when their parents were pleased with their efforts and their score. I finished the session with a game from the Games Workshop. They loved it. Tonight I am going to a street market that's exclusively for women. Could prove to be very costly! Looking forward to observing the children during their conferences tomorrow. I also hope to go exploring along some of the little streets and alleyways that surround the school.Talk again tomorrow. xo

Hi Jane,
Great to hear of your adventures in Indonesia, I am so pleased that you are there and that the exchange is up and running again. It sounds like you are having a fascinating time and I am very impressed with all the public speaking you are doing and your BLOG entries. Life in India is interesting to say the least. Maybe one day Sharad Pawar International School can get into a three way exchange with Global Jaya and St Leonard's.
Take care, and hello to everyone at St Leonard's.

Jane - sounds as if you are having an excellent time there - lifestyles sound like the ones teachers lead in Hong Kong!
Enjoy - we all miss you here - try not to spend too much at the market!

Hi Ibu Jane,
Sounds like you are having a very busy time both at school and after hours! The PYP conference sounds very interesting, how wonderful to make more connections internationally via PYP. Your staff workshop sounded inspiring and fun, I'm sure staff at SGJ got a lot out of it.
All the St Leonard's community are getting so much out of your news on the blog.
Looking forward to your next entry,

Dear mrs L,
i like the sound of that coffee shop and about stormbreaker i am so exited about it - oh, and Henry's taking me, Adam and Jack to see it. Boo yah free movie's!! Today we learnt about punctuation and we did this story thing where we write one line then fold the one before us and in the end we ended up with these story's that went like Once upon a time there was a magical frog.Which exploded and died instantly and it just didn't work but anyway i will type again later so see ya bye.

Dear Mrs Lukitas,
i wish i could have some of the coffee it sounds great!
i got stormbreaker at the book fair and i finished it in two days when i got it i said to my mum on saturday when i had three quaters of the book left can i see the movie tomoro she said you have to read the book first so no. but you know what i finished the book in 3 hours and a half and we saw it the next day!!!
We missed out on sport and Japanese on wendsday and we had to do punctuation instead it was sooooooooo boring to the mind and i think that was why i got a headake. just for a couple of questions are there student led confrences to ours ? how did they cope with english? and is there school teachers like ours?
i never knew there was a website this cool where you could read all our questions and we could talk to each other!!
best wishes Gus.
